With over 30 years experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist, I have worked across diverse health settings including the NHS, private practice, hospitals, prisons, and addiction services.
I graduated from University College Dublin and completed my psychiatric training in Dublin before relocating to the UK. Over the years, I have held consultant psychiatrist roles in West Lothian,Scotland, and South Oxfordshire, and have worked in unique settings such as the armed forces and prisons, supporting mentally ill offenders.
From 2015 to 2022, I served as the Clinical Lead forOxfordshire Addiction Services, following my tenure as the lead psychiatrist ata private addiction unit in St Andrews Hospital, Northampton. I continue to work as an addiction psychiatrist and prescriber of opioid substitution medications within the Oxfordshire Addiction Team.
Before specialising in psychiatry, I worked in generalmedicine, casualty, and paediatrics. I was awarded the Laughlin Prize for placing joint first in the examination for Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
